OutSystems can be configured to authenticate the end-users:
- Internally using credentials stored in its own database
- Using an Active Directory domain
- With LDAP configured for Active Directory
Configure the User authentication mode
To configure how end-users are authenticated:
In the Users application, click Configure Authentication in the sidebar.
Select one of the authentication methods in the Authentication drop-down list: Internal Only, Active Directory or LDAP.
If you use LDAP or Active Directory to authenticate users, you do not need to create the users manually. Instead they will be automatically created on the first login.
Configure Active Directory domain authentication
The Active Directory authentication method is only available for the .NET version of OutSystems. It requires the front-end server to be part of the Active Directory domain.
To use Active Directory domain authentication:
Choose Active Directory in the Authentication drop-down list.
Add the authentication domain in the Default Domain text field.
To enable Integrated Windows Authentication for all applications, select Windows Integrated Authentication.
You can enable Integrated Windows Authentication for a selected number of web screens, web flows or web services in Service Studio.
- For web screens and flows, set Integrated Authentication under the Advanced property section to
- For web services, you have to implement a custom logic.
Configure LDAP authentication with Active Directory
To configure the OutSystems end-user authentication for LDAP server with Active Directory:
Choose LDAP in the Authentication drop-down list.
Use AD credentials.
In the LDAP URL field, enter the URL of the following format:
