Security configurations for on-premises deployments

OutSystems

Manage an IT team with a centralized identity provider

OutSystems supports three different identity providers out of the box for managing IT teams:

  • Built-in: OutSystems securely stores the IT user information. IT users are authenticated with the built-in authentication mechanism. This is the fastest way to get started, since it requires no configuration.

  • Active Directory: When users try to authenticate in one of OutSystems' tools, the platform delegates the authentication to the Active Directory domain controller.

  • LDAP: When users try to authenticate in one of OutSystems' tools, the platform delegates the authentication to the Active Directory domain controller.

Authenticate with other identity providers

If the authentication providers that are included by default with OutSystems don't fit an organizations's needs, it's possible to create custom ones or by personalizing existing ones.

Under the hood, the authentication providers are regular OutSystems applications that implement a web service with a well-specified contract. When an IT user tries to log-in into an OutSystems tool, the platform delegates the authentication to the authentication provider that is configured, by using its services.
